Elderwood CNA Training: A Pathway to a Rewarding Career in New York State

Approved by the New York State Department of Health, Elderwood's CNA training program provides aspiring caregivers with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this rewarding field. Our comprehensive program covers at least 120 hours of instruction, including 30 hours of clinical training, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for their future roles.

Upon completion of our program, students will be eligible to take the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam and gain certification from the New York State Nurse Aide Registry. In addition to a strong foundation in patient care, our training also emphasizes the importance of providing compassionate and respectful care to residents.

Elderwood offers a competitive compensation package, with hourly rates ranging from $15.50 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience. As an Elderwood CNA, you will be responsible for assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) according to their individualized care plans. This may include helping with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other daily tasks. You will also be expected to respond promptly to resident requests, monitor the performance of Nursing Assistants, and report any changes in resident conditions or needs to the Charge Nurse.

To succeed as an Elderwood CNA, you must possess a caring and respectful attitude towards residents, as well as excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing. You will also be required to supervise and work well with other personnel, as part of a collaborative team environment. Prior training and experience in a geriatric setting are preferred, but not required.

In addition to these requirements, you must be registered on the State Nurse Aide Registry (CNA), have no findings or convictions related to resident abuse, mistreatment, or misappropriation of property, and hold an Employment Certificate/Permit for those 17 years of age or older. A high school diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
